Now more than ever, the need for digital security is evident. With so much at stake, it is essential that your business does everything it can to protect itself from harmful attacks or breaches of information. What is one of the simplest, yet most effective ways to protect your business? Having a strong password! Here are some tips on ways to make your passwords strong:
Don’t make them easy to guess. Having “password” for your password is like leaving your car unlocked with the keys inside – begging for something bad to happen. Make sure your passwords do not contain information that is well known (such as a pet or child’s name). Special characters – punctuation and numbers – help make your password harder to guess. The more random looking your password, the better.
4ghet gramher. While we’re big supporters of following grammar rules, there are rare times when it’s okay to break them. Creating your password is one of those times. Because major attacks usually are consulting dictionaries, it’s best to purposely misspell common words. For instance, “phone” would become “faohonne.”
Get a password manager. Does the thought of keeping track of lots of different passwords overwhelm you? It doesn’t have to! By having a password manager, you can keep track of all your passwords and even generate strong, random passwords to protect you.
